Blood Tests

This is a private service offered in the practice. The HSE does fund phlebotomy except in very particular circumstances. If you are enrolled in our CDM program, you are entitled to 1-2 free blood tests per year.

Screening blood tests / Consultant requested bloods / Private clinic bloods are not covered, and so incur a charge.

Due to demand, we now have a waitlist for blood tests, this is due to increased requests from local Hospitals to perform phlebotomy

To help us manage appointments safely and efficiently, please note the following policy for blood tests:

  • Blood tests can only be booked if one of our doctors has requested them.
  • If you feel you need certain bloods taken, please make an appointment with your doctor.

In some cases your doctor may have requested bloods be taken prior to your next review, this will usually be documented in your notes.

If you need blood tests in advance of a consultant or outpatient appointment, we are happy to try to help where possible.

Please note that we cannot always guarantee availability for these requests. In some cases, it may be necessary to arrange the tests directly through the hospital phlebotomy department or requesting consultant.
